 Hey Guys! Today, we are going to talk about Debates. Here is some info:

A Debate, is a fair argument between a topic. Example: One person is saying, that SUP should not be used. And another person is saying, that SUP should be used. (if you want to learn more about SUP, read my post: earth, earth 123!)

Here are some features you should include when you are debating:

personal pronouns ( I, me, personally) emotive language / exaggeration rhetorical questions / repetition statistics/ shock tactics using an authority figure alliteration / anecdotes direct address exaggeration

Here are a few Key features of a debate: an introduction facts to support each point formal language emotive language rhetorical questions repetition a counter argument discourse markers or conjunctions to connect paragraphs a strong conclusion

Here is a report that I wrote for a debate about plastic:

Hello, I am arguing that plastic is bad for the earth. Plastic is non-biodegradable. And we produce a million tons of it every year. Most of it can't be recycled. 

Plastic, that we throw away mostly ends up in a landfill.Or worse, in the ocean. Where it can harm thousands of marine creatures. And finally, in the water that we drink. 

They decompose to a smaller particle called microplastic. Microplastic never decomposes. Microplastic also releases harmful chemicals. Ones that can kill the earth. And us humans.

 The worst plastic of all is Single use plastic. It has a devastating impact on all forms of life.

 This is reducing the life span of all species. Even humans. Burning plastic can cause enumber of ailments. Asthma, nausea. It also has an enormous impact on the nervous system. 

Have you ever asked yourself? Why do we need plastic? Even the governments of many countries are coming together trying to stop it, so why shouldn't we?
