The Food Chain

Hey guys! today we are going to learn about the food chain! here is some info and an examples:

Producers - a producer is a living thing that makes its own food from sunlight, air, nutrients and minerals, from the soil. Green plants are producers who make food in their leaves.

Consumers - a consumer is a living thing that cannot make its own food. Consumers eat plants or animals for their food. All animals are consumers. There are different levels of consumers: Primary consumer, secondary consumer and tertiary consumer, also known as apex predator.

Scavengers - a scavenger is a living thing that cannot make its own food. Scavengers feed on dead animals or plants for getting energy.

Decomposers - a decomposer is a living thing that gets energy by breaking down dead plants or animals. Fungi and bacteria are the most common decomposers.

Predator - a predator is an animal that hunts other animals for food.

Prey - a prey is an animal that is hunted and eaten for food.
